Sixth International Conference on the Ancient Novel
Roads Less Travelled
Ghent University (Belgium), 21-24 September 2022
We are delighted to invite you to the Sixth International Conference on the Ancient Novel at Ghent in September 2022. It will be held in one of the most beautiful historic conference venues in Ghent and indeed beyond: Thagaste, an (operative) Augustinian monastery in the heart of the medieval city centre, hosting not only atmospheric meeting rooms but also a delightful inner courtyard, light-filled cloisters, a historic library, and a Baroque church. At the same time, remote participation will be possible for those conference delegates who are unable to join us in person. The conference will feature ca. 100 speakers distributed over 36 thematic panels.

ICAN in uncertain times: Venue
The conference will take place from 21st to 24th September 2022 and will be hosted in hybrid form.
Its physical venue will be Thagaste Augustinian monastery, Academiestraat 1, 9000 Gent, Belgium. This venue is located in the heart of the medieval town of Ghent, within walking distance of accommodation options. We will of course monitor covid regulations and update participants of the requirements closer to the time. See our FAQ page for current covid-regulations in Belgium.
We appreciate many colleagues interested in attending the conference might not yet know whether they will be able to travel to Belgium at that time, or indeed already know they won’t be able to. We therefore welcome speakers and participants both in person and online (by means of an accessible platform). Any questions, feel free to contact us.

Registration
